The L20 Hub has announced the return of its popular “Water Wombles” community cleanup sessions along Bootle’s canal waterways, with the next session taking place today, Wednesday 16th September.
The sessions are free to attend, but booking is essential to manage capacity and equipment.
Organised by The L20 Hub in partnership with the Canal & River Trust, the initiative invites local residents to help clear litter and look after the local environment, either out on the water in canoes or along the towpath on foot.

What to Expect
The sessions run fortnightly at 10:30am and offer participants the chance to:
- Learn: Discover basic paddling skills while learning about local waterways and ecosystems.
- Get Involved: Take to the water in a canoe to pick up litter, with full instruction and support provided.
- Towpath Cleanup: Join the team walking the towpath to clean up paths on foot.
- Connect: Meet fellow residents and help build a stronger community aimed at creating a cleaner, greener Bootle.
