Local residents will get the chance to peek behind the curtain tomorrow as the Lucilla Dramatic Society hosts a special open day to celebrate more than a century of local theatrical history.
The community group opens Lucilla House on Victoria Road West on Sunday 20 September from 11am to 4pm, inviting visitors of all ages to explore their Victorian clubhouse premises, which the society has owned since 1952.
Visitors will be able to watch short play performances scheduled for 12pm and 3pm, step up on stage for a souvenir selfie, or even try their hand at reading a script.
Short self-guided tours running throughout the day will take guests behind the scenes of the stage and studio facilities. The event also features oral history recordings from members, a video history detailing “The Lucilla Story”, and a look ahead to future plans for the building.

Families are encouraged to bring children along, with dedicated arts and crafts sessions planned alongside free light refreshments for visitors.
