Monday 14 September: The Angels of Mons Exhibition

A museum exhibition examining one of the First World War’s most famous supernatural legends. Organised in partnership with the Mons Memorial Museum in Belgium, it explores how outnumbered British troops in 1914 reported miraculous visions of phantom bowmen and angels. Highlights include Marcel Gillis’s 1968 painting The Angels of Mons, celebrating the long-standing twin town link between Sefton and Mons.

Tuesday 15 September: Much More Than Soup Cans – The Life and Works of Andy Warhol

A daytime talk hosted by The Arts Society Southport looking beyond Warhol’s famous soup cans to explore his life and wider body of work.

Wednesday 16 September: Equinox Clothes Swap – Southport
5pm–9pm | Southport Market, Southport | Free
A sustainable community clothes swap from The Hearth Network. Drop off up to ten clean adult clothing items between 5pm and 6pm and receive tokens to exchange for other clothes when the swap opens from 6pm. Leftover items are donated to Lakeside Church Free Clothes Store.

Thursday 17 September: Dementia Friendly Screening – The Thrill Of It All
2pm | Plaza Community Cinema, Waterloo, Liverpool | Free
Free dementia-friendly screening supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, including a complimentary tea or coffee and a biscuit at the interval. Norman Jewison’s classic romantic comedy stars Doris Day as a housewife whose sudden rise to fame as a soap spokesperson causes chaos at home alongside James Garner. Features subtitles for all visitors.

Friday 18 September: Sefton Parish Church Heritage Open Day
11am–4pm | Sefton Parish Church, Lunt Road, Sefton | Free
The Grade I listed church — known as the “Cathedral of the Fields” — opens to visitors with volunteer guides, heritage information, family history and graveyard research support, a craft table and refreshments. The site has been a place of worship for more than 855 years.
