Film & Fizz: William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet (1996)

The Plaza is hosting a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 romance as part of its Film & Fizz series. Tickets are £10, which includes your entry and a glass of fizz* to enjoy during the movie.
This modern version of the classic tragedy moves the feud between the Montagues and Capulets to the hot, busy streets of Verona Beach. While the film looks modern, it still uses Shakespeare’s original dialogue. The cast features Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes, John Leguizamo, Miriam Margolyes, and Paul Rudd. This film is rated as “12A”. *Fizz (Prosecco) only available for those with an ADULT 18+ Ticket.
Kaiju Klash All Day Pass

Get ready for something big! The Plaza is holding its very first Kaiju Klash – a full day dedicated to some of the greatest monster movies ever made. From legendary old-school classics to modern hits, it is a celebration of giant creatures and massive battles on the big screen.
You can pick up a Kaiju Klash Day Pass for £15. This allows you to get a free ticket for each of the day’s four films, saving you £5 compared to buying them separately for £20.

Plaza 80s Presents: Cocktail (15)
Saturday 20 June, 7pm
Plaza 80s is back with its fourth classic of the year: the 1988 hit Cocktail. This stylish film stars Tom Cruise, Bryan Brown, and Elisabeth Shue, following a young bartender chasing success from New York to Jamaica.
DJ Nick Gartland will be playing 80s tunes before the film starts. There will be a bar open during the evening and a food bank collection at the door for anyone who would like to donate.

Working with Sefton Council’s Rainbow Network to celebrate Pride 2026, The Plaza is screening the hit film Pride.
Based on a true story from the 1984 miners’ strike, the film follows a group of LGBT activists who raise money to support the National Union of Mineworkers. However, the Union seems a bit embarrassed to take their help at first. Directed by Matthew Warchus, it stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Andrew Scott, and George MacKay.
- Also happening: On Friday 26 June 2026 at 4:30pm, the Rainbow Book Club will meet at Crosby Library to talk about the book Pride by Tim Tate. Everyone is welcome.

A Better Tomorrow | 4K Restoration (18)

Action fans can see a new 4K restoration of John Woo’s famous film, A Better Tomorrow.
The story follows a former gangster trying to go straight and fix his relationship with his brother, who is a policeman. However, he finds it very hard to leave his old gang behind. The film stars Lung Ti, Leslie Cheung, and Chow Yun-Fat.
