Monday 13th July: “Taking Centre Stage: Female Artists” Exhibition

  • Location: The Gallery at The Atkinson, Lord Street, Southport
  • Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Cost: Free entry
  • Spend your Monday discovering a curated fine-art exhibition charting the works of historic and contemporary female artists within the borough’s permanent collection. Showcasing pieces by prominent figures like Alice Mary Havers, Dame Laura Knight, and Dame Tracey Emin, the exhibition provides an insightful look into their creative legacies.

Tuesday 14th July: Squish! Sensory Play at Bootle Library

  • Location: Bootle Library, 220 Stanley Road, Bootle
  • Time: 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Cost: Free (Advance online booking is strictly required via Sefton Libraries).
  • Spend your Tuesday morning at Bootle Library for the final “Squish!” workshop before the summer holidays. Led by resident artist Nicki McCubbing, this slow-paced, welcoming session is specifically designed for children aged 12 months to 3 years and their parents or carers. The workshop offers a dedicated space for toddlers to explore tactile, sustainable materials—including homemade playdough, den building, and rice shakers.
  • Please Note: Every adult and child must have a pre-booked ticket to attend, and there is a maximum limit of 3 children per adult. Younger siblings are welcome to accompany the primary participant.

Wednesday 15th July: Grateful Fred’s Bijou Sessions Featuring Brooks Williams

  • Location: Southport Bijou Cinema, Post Office Avenue, Southport
  • Time: 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Cost: Ticketed entry via TicketSource
  • Live acoustic music takes centre stage on Wednesday evening with the long-running Grateful Fred Americana and roots sessions. This week’s live showcase features a headline concert from renowned acoustic blues and roots artist Brooks Williams. Known for his world-class guitar styling and smooth vocals, it is a fantastic opportunity to catch high-caliber international touring talent in an intimate, friendly local setting. 

Thursday 16th July: Weekly Shared Reading Group at Crosby Library

  • Location: Crosby Library, Crosby Road North, Waterloo
  • Time: 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
  • Cost: Free drop-in (No booking required)
  • Bring your Thursday afternoon to life by joining the weekly literature and social circle at Crosby Library. This community gathering welcomes anyone who enjoys stories and poetry. A group leader reads a chosen story or poem aloud in real time, pausing naturally to allow the room to share thoughts, personal reflections, and casual conversation over a cup of tea. It is a warm, inviting space to enjoy great writing and meet fellow residents.

Friday 17th July: Sunset Sessions Live at The Lake House

  • Location: The Lake House, Cambridge Road, Waterloo
  • Time: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Cost: Free entry
  • Ease into the weekend by heading down to the edge of Crosby Marine Lake for some open-air entertainment. This lakeside venue is hosting its official Sunset Sessions on Friday evening, bringing out talented independent local DJs to spin laid-back disco beats as the sun sets over the water. It is a brilliant, scenic spot to sit back with friends, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming community atmosphere to mark the end of the week.
