The RAF Red Arrows will return to the Sefton coastline in a few weeks time as the Southport Air Show confirms its dates for Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, 2026.
The annual two-day event, organised with Sefton Council, is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Southport Beach and the Promenade over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Flying their red Hawk T1 fast-jets, the aerobatic team will perform over the Irish Sea on both days.
Speaking about the announcement, Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Skills, and Employment, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome the Red Arrows back to the Southport Air Show in 2026. They are internationally recognised as one of the most iconic display teams in the world, and their performances always create a fantastic atmosphere along our coast.
“Council officers have been working closely with RAF display teams and aviation partners behind the scenes for many months to secure this lineup. The Air Show remains a flagship fixture on Sefton’s events calendar, generating significant local economic benefit while bringing families, enthusiasts, and visitors together by the sea.”
The Flying Lineup
Alongside the Red Arrows, the RAF Typhoon display team will perform on Sunday, August 30. Visitors can also expect historic aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, including the Spitfire, Hurricane, and Dakota, alongside displays from the Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, the Jet Pitts team, and the Strikemaster.
Ground Attractions & Local Business
Along the seawall and beach, ground attractions will include flight simulators, static military displays, trade stalls, and children’s activities. Visitors are also encouraged to head into town to support local restaurants, cafes, and shops along Lord Street throughout the weekend.
