Dog owners across Southport, Formby, and West Lancashire are being encouraged to grab the lead and lace up their walking boots this month as Queenscourt Hospice officially launches its annual Wag & Walk fundraising challenge today.
Running throughout the whole of September, the event offers local pet lovers a simple way to spend quality time outdoors with their four-legged companions while raising vital funds for specialist end-of-life care across the borough.
How the challenge works
Unlike traditional group walking events, Wag & Walk lets participants design their own timetable and routes. Owners can set whatever distance goal suits them best – whether that means adding an extra mile to standard morning strolls around the local park or planning longer weekend treks along the coast.
Every dog registered for the challenge will receive an official Queenscourt Hospice bandana to wear out on their travels, helping spread awareness for the charity along the way.

Supporting local hospice care
Queenscourt Hospice provides specialist palliative care for over 1,900 local people and their families every year, both at their base on Town Lane in Southport and out in the wider community. With running costs continuing to rise, community fundraisers like Wag & Walk play a key role in keeping these services free for those who need them most.
Sign-ups are open online now via the Queenscourt Hospice website, where supporters can register their dogs and pick up their fundraising packs before setting off on their first walk of the month.
