We’ve got together with our friends at Crosby Cheese & Charcuterie to celebrate National Wine and Cheese Day (Saturday 25 July) with a selection of European cheeses available to buy from their shop on St John’s Road in Waterloo. The day is all about exploring regional pairings, and since Europe is the birthplace of these ageless culinary companions, you can easily host a tasting session with these unique combinations below:
Bavarian Rougette – German Brie style cheese, made with pasteurised cow’s milk from Bavaria’s Allgäu region. Soft, rich and creamy with a natural rind that has a slight dusting of paprika.
Wine – Pairs best with a crisp Riesling or a dry sparkling wine, Prosecco or Cava to cut through the richness.
£3.80/100g

Rambol Walnut – a soft pasteurised cow’s milk cheese from France. Layers of walnut mousse and pieces of walnut to give a crunch. Very creamy and spreadable.
Wine – Pairs great with a low tannin Pinot Noir.
£4.00/100g

Gorgonzola Dolce – Italian blue cheese made with pasteurised cow’s milk, creamy, soft spreadable. Dolce is so much sweeter than a sharp blue cheese.
Wine – Pairs well with any dry crisp sparking Prosecco. The sweetness and creaminess of the cheese need something to balance it out and cut through the richness.
£4.00/100g

LA BOUSE with Wild Garlic – made with unpasteurised cow’s milk from Switzerland. Delicate soft, gooey cheese with a strong punch of wild garlic running through the middle.
Wine – Pair with an acidic grassy Sauvignon Blanc or a dry citrus driven Picpoul de Pinet.
£5.00/100g

Selection of Cheese & Charcuterie boards with different sizes from £15.00 to £50.00.
Wine – Pair with whatever your go to is…

You can also find a wide range of celebration cakes from Christening to Weddings.
