Here’s what’s on across Sefton this week:

Monday 7 September: Crosby Library Chess Clubs

  • Where: Crosby Library, Crosby Road North, Waterloo, L22 0LQ

  • Cost: Free admission

  • Details: A weekly drop-in chess meetup taking place in the Small Lecture Hall. Free to attend with complimentary drinks provided for players.

Children’s Chess Club

  • Where: Crosby Library, Crosby Road North, Waterloo, L22 0LQ

  • When: 3:30pm – 4:45pm

  • Cost: Free admission

  • Details: Open to young people aged 6 and above. A casual drop-in space for children to practice, play, and learn chess together after school.

Tuesday 8 September: Nepal Flood Relief Fund at Great Himalayas

  • Where: Great Himalayas Nepalese Restaurant, 665 Lord Street, Southport, PR9 0AW

  • When: 4:00pm – 10:00pm

  • Cost: Dining menu prices / optional donations

  • Details: A community fundraising evening where all food bills from the night will be donated directly to the Nepal Flood Relief Fund. The entire restaurant team is volunteering their time for the event, and donation boxes will also be set up for extra contributions.

Wednesday 9 September: Netherton Library Rhyme Time

  • Where: Netherton Library, Glovers Lane, Netherton, L30 3TL

  • When: 10:30am – 11:15am

  • Cost: Free admission

  • Details: A weekly morning session for toddlers and preschool children featuring interactive songs, rhymes, and stories. The session is followed by a stay-and-play session with library toys from 11:00am onwards.

Thursday 10 September: Coffee Morning

  • Where: Formby Library, 15 Duke St, Formby, Liverpool L37 4AN

  • When: 10:30am – 12:00pm

  • Cost: Free admission

  • Details: Coffee mornings are an opportunity to get a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit, read the newspapers or the latest edition of Most Sefton magazine, and have a chat with others.

Friday 11 September: Southport Dramatic Club: ‘Quiz’

  • Where: Little Theatre, Hoghton Street, Southport, PR9 0PQ

  • When: Opening Night

  • Cost: Ticketed entry

  • Details: Opening night of Southport Dramatic Club’s performance of Quiz. The interactive stage production explores the famous “Coughing Major” Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? scandal, inviting the audience to weigh up the evidence and render a verdict.
