Rimrose Valley Country Park is hosting free weekly cycling and bike maintenance sessions every Tuesday throughout the summer break.
Organised by local charity Rimrose Valley Friends in partnership with social enterprise HYPE Urban Bikes, the drop-in events run from 10am to 3pm until Tuesday 25 August. Funding for the project has been secured from Active Travel England through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
For the school holidays, activities have moved over to Chaffers Running Track inside the park, having previously been based at LCFA Sefton. The track gives local residents a safe, traffic-free spot to practice.
Mechanics from HYPE Urban Bikes will be on site alongside Rimrose Valley Friends volunteers to run confidence-building rides and carry out basic bike repairs, including puncture fixes and brake adjustments.
Anyone without a working bicycle can borrow one on the day, with a limited number of bikes available for free hire.
The project mainly targets adults aged 17 and over looking to get back on two wheels, but families and children are welcome to drop in together while the schools are off.
No booking is needed, residents can turn up at Chaffers Track between 10am and 3pm every Tuesday for the next few weeks.
