Food lovers from across the North West are getting ready for a busy weekend as the Southport Food and Drink Festival returns to Victoria Park. The popular three-day community event starts on Friday and runs through until Sunday, offering a massive choice of treats from local and international traders.
Organisers expect tens of thousands of visitors to flock to the park over the weekend. More than 100 stalls will be selling everything from Asian street food and Caribbean curries to fresh crepes, gourmet burgers, and traditional British pies. Local producers from across Sefton are also setting up shop, giving visitors a chance to sample and buy handmade cheeses, chutneys, and fresh cakes to take home.
It is not just about the food. A wide selection of drink stalls will serve local craft beers, regional gins, and refreshing summer cocktails. Following its huge success in recent years, the festival features unique tasting sessions where visitors can book onto craft beer masterclasses, wine pairings, and cake decorating sessions. For entertainment, local musicians and bands will play live music in the main arena throughout each day, creating a fantastic, relaxed holiday atmosphere.
Families are well looked after too. A dedicated children’s area features plenty of activities to keep youngsters busy, including arts and crafts, storytelling, and face painting.
Sefton Council leaders have highlighted how important the festival is for the local economy. The high footfall provides a welcome boost for permanent shops, cafes, and restaurants across Southport, while giving small, independent traders a great opportunity to find new customers.
The festival is completely free to enter and gates open from 10am until 6pm every day. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic blanket, choose their favourite dishes, and enjoy a relaxed day out by the coast.
